Given that they're reinstating fiction and fandom blogs, what choices have they made about free expression that don't coincide with yours?

They haven't, unless you count their decision to ban [info]fandom_wank (which was a long time ago and mostly beside the point). My point is that I don't want to use any service that I don't control any more, at least not for blogging.

Ok, three questions:

1. LJ is just a tool? I don't understand how you can deny that lj IS a community since for a blogging site, it's so community oriented. I can see how blogger or pitas (god, is that even still alive?) or wordpress would be more a tool, but they kind of lack the easy networking that livejournal offers. You know, you can go from group to group and a lot of times you run into the same person at some unexpected place and you're like "lol"...and isn't that what people do with communities? I mean I guess you can ignore that by never joining any communities or reading other people's journals, but who really does that?

(YOU KNOW ILU, BUT I FEEL LIKE ARGUING THIS BECAUSE I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHERE YOU'RE COMING FROM AND WOULD LIKE TO HEAR YOUR SIDE)

2. Isn't the only way to blog without the constrains of TOS to buy your own server? IDK, I mean I had a domain for a while but I still had to abide by the hosting company's TOS. But I don't know that much about the internet beyond that, so I'm curious to know what the other option is.

3. How far does free speech go for you when it comes to something like pedophilia? Would it be okay to share candid pictures of naked children which are not exactly porn but redistributed for that purpose? Would it be okay to discuss fantasies of how one would catch and rape a child? As long as no actual children were being harmed would that be okay?
